With the Koa Anvil Awards submission deadline fast approaching, more than two dozen PRSA members and guests gathered virtually to discuss insights into putting together outstanding entries.

On April 23, 2021, PRSA Hawaii hosted a special Koa Anvil Spotlight webinar highlighting a diverse array of past winners representing agency, corporate communications, and healthcare. PRSA Hawaii Awards Chair Huy Vo, director of public relations for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach, moderated the discussion as panelists shared what the Koa Anvil Awards are all about, who can apply, and what it takes to win. Panelists included Jocelyn Collado, senior account director at Becker Communications; Julie Ford, founder and president of Schweitzer Consulting; Theresa van Greunen, assistant vice president, corporate communications at Aqua-Aston Hospitality; and Stacy Wong, communications manager at Healthcare Association of Hawaii.

The Koa Anvils are a competition to develop better plans, use creativity to produce better results, and increase professional skill to produce the best public relations programs and tools that keep the professional motivated and moving forward.

This year’s deadline for award entries is May 16, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. HST. PRSA Hawaii is also accepting nominations for distinguished individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the public relations field. Learn more on PRSA Hawaii’s Awards webpage.
