Dan believes social media is a boon to business. But he also knows that it's not the end-all-and-be-all, rather it's just one component of a solid communications plan. He will regale us with examples of social networking's uses in effective communications programs, provide tips on what works and what to shy away from, and give advice on how to use the tools without it becoming your 24/7 occupation.

Dan is the Director of Digital Marketing for StarrTech Interactive, a division of Anthology Marketing in Honolulu, Hawaii. He plans and designs digital and social marketing strategies while monitoring implementation, analysis, and optimization throughout the campaign. Concentrating on a balance between effective targeting, analytics, and viral potential, Dan is always looking for the "next big thing" in emerging technologies.

His current client roster stems from Hawaii's travel and tourism industry with organizations like Marriott Hawaii, Polynesian Cultural Center, Waikiki Parc Hotel, and Kapalua Resort. Dan also handles the digital and social marketing needs for Sprint's Wholesale Division, Bank of Hawaii, Hawaiian Telcom, and Farmers Hawaii. With concentrations on efficient targeting and measurement, Dan is known for his obsession for detailed analytics and a strong return on investment for his clients.
Before his adventures in Hawaii, Dan worked on Wall Street with Forex Capital Markets, one of the largest foreign exchange brokerage firms in the world. There he planned and purchased media that was evaluated by Clickz at an annual spend of over $35 million dollars. Working with financial giants like CNN Money, Bloomberg, Reuters, and the Wall Street Journal, Dan optimized hundreds of placements to constantly tune a direct response campaign to produce account openings and revenue.

As digital marketing became second nature to Dan, social influence marketing began trending in business. Working in digital for the last five years and marketing and sales for the last nine, Dan wasn't surprised at the evolution of social media into the marketing realm. Being a part of the social media conversation is a constant message he promotes through his multiple appearances at seminars, classes, and various public speaking opportunities. Through education and encouragement, Dan believes that all businesses can benefit from utilizing social media as just another vessel for communication with their customers.

Dan has earned degrees from around the globe, studying both Entrepreneurship and International Business in parts of New England, Sweden, and Australia.
