Composition. Lighting. Aperture. Just a few factors that can make a good photo great. Now that your company has bought the PR team that expensive DSLR camera, do you know what to do with it? Or, maybe your organization has no budget for fancy cameras meaning your point-and-shoot or mobile device is all you got.
Not to worry! PRSA Hawaii's January program will help build your confidence to unleash your "inner photographer" improving the quality and creativity of your photos for all communications channels. We've invited two Honolulu-based photographers - Marco Garcia and John Garcia - with strong local and national experience to give you some tips on getting the most out of your cameras.
Marco Garcia, a Honolulu-based photographer, specializes in travel, portrait, and documentary photography. His clients include the Associated Press, New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Modern Luxury Magazine, and Frommer's Guide Books. His corporate clients include the Sony Corporation, Blue Planet Foundation, and the Hard Rock Café. Marco's work has taken him around the globe and off the beaten path in Hawaii. In January 2005, Marco traveled to Indonesia where he captured the devastation of the Indian Ocean earthquake and returned six months later to photograph the rebuilding. His documentation of Banda Aceh was showcased in a one-man show at the East West Center. The successful gallery show led to the publication of his first book titled "Hope for Renewal, Photographs from Indonesia after the tsunami," which helped raise relief funds for tsunami victims globally.
John Garcia, born and raised in Honolulu, is a digital designer specializing in web, photo, video and social media. John is co-owner of Nonstop Honolulu, a locally produced entertainment, events and eating website and founder of the recently launched Green House Innovation Hub in Kakaako. With more than 10 years of experience in the digital industry, John is constantly searching for ways to innovate through creative design.
